Founder Hans Dieter Rauch is a stamp dealer by trade and, as the second generation, successfully runs the Austrophil stamp auction house, founded by his father in 1948.

In his early years in business, the young H.D. Rauch had a fortunate and promising opportunity to gain initial experience in the coin trade: During a trip to Israel, close friends introduced him to a large collection of ancient Jewish coins. The enterprising H.D. Rauch immediately recognized the significance and value of this impressive collection, and with the help of one of Vienna's most experienced coin dealers of the time, he organized his first coin auction, which took place in Vienna in June 1969. This marked the beginning of the H.D. Rauch auction house—and a meteoric rise in the numismatic trade. Today, the H.D. Rauch auction house can look back on 120 successful coin auctions and over 180 stamp auctions. Tradition and innovation are key to its success.

Regular Auctions and Business Premises: Two live coin auctions, several smaller online auctions, and two stamp auctions are held annually. Located in the heart of Vienna near the famous Plague Column, the well-frequented business premises offer buying and selling of collectibles as well as gold trading. The same building houses the auction house, spanning over 150 square meters.

International Representation: H.D. Rauch is a frequent and welcome presence at major international auctions, where he also reliably executes client orders. Furthermore, the auction house is represented at the most important trade fairs throughout Europe.

Reliability and Ethics: The H.D. Rauch Auction House is a member of the Association of German Coin Dealers (VddM), the Association of Swiss Professional Numismatists (VSBN), and the Federal Association of German Stamp Dealers (APHV). The house unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of all items offered.
